Hannover Messe Mission

Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Technology Bootcamp

25 March - 5 April 2019

The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) in partnership with the Flinders University New Venture Institute, are offering Startups, Scale Ups with innovative manufacturing technologies an opportunity to partake in an intensive 5-day boot camp at the Australian Landing Pad in Berlin with some of the world’s best global manufacturers.

Participants will attend a boot-camp at the Berlin Landing Pad and exhibit at Hannover Messe (English translation: Hanover Fair), the world’s leading industrial technology tradeshow. 

The mission will provide:

  • Pre and post program workshops in Australia
  • Five days of a program tailored to include meetings and networking opportunities in Berlin, with businesses, entrepreneurs, accelerators, incubators and venture capital firms
  • Assistance with your business development and advice from in-country experts, with strategic introductions to major corporations with advanced manufacturing/disruptive technology needs
  • Access to Hub Conference (10th and 11th of April), hosted by BitKom, Germany's digital association at no cost, post Hannover Messe.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Startups and scaleups who are solving problems in advanced manufacturing such as electric transportation systems; drones and remote technology; energy technology and hydrogen, fuel cells and batteries. 

Additional suitable participants include:

  • Additive and future manufacturing startups providing solutions in advanced materials, light weighting, equipment enhancement to streamline additive printing, prototyping technology and testing.   
  • Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Automation startups driving innovation and developing solutions with code and algorithms to increase productivity and reduce costs of operations including improving safety considerations in manufacturing. 
  • Big data and analytics startups applying sensor technology to extract, process and refine big data to solve complex problems and value chain data integration, including secure distribution of mass data.
  • Immersive simulation startups developing solutions using 3D and 4D technologies and virtual and augmented reality to place users in a virtual environment to improve business models, production planning and control, virtual product development, value chains and organisational structures.
  • Industrial Internet of Things startups using sensor, cloud and embedded technologies to connect data devices, people and processes to generate new information, drive new applications and services.

  • 23 March 2019: Depart Australia
  • 25-29 March 2019: Berlin Landing Pad/ individual program options 
  • 1-5 April 2019: Hannover Messe / individual program options 
  • 6 April 2019: Depart Berlin or continue at the Berlin Landing Pad
  • 10-11 April 2019: Hub Conference Berlin (optional)

  • Be a registered Australian business with active ABN
  • Conduct activities that deliver a net economic benefit to Australia, including ownership of IP or innovation that they seek to represent during their participation in the mission
  • Are an ethical business that will not bring the reputation of Australia, Austrade or the Australian Landing Pad program into disrepute

APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS

Upon meeting Austrade’s eligibility criteria for services, applicants will be assessed on five criteria:

  • Vision – what are your startup’s objectives and how are you going to achieve them?
  • Scalability – can you deliver your product or service to 100 or 1 million customers?
  • Traction – do you have a proof-of-concept, existing sales and customers, funding, investors and partners?
  • Differentiation – how does your offering disrupt its marketplace, and what is your value proposition and vision for growth?
  • Market relevance – how would attendance at the Berlin Landing Pad make a difference to your startup?
