Working in partnership with Australian Business UK, Australia Unlimited launched Australia Unlimited and the new iPad App as part of an Australia Day business network event on 26 January 2012.
Over 500 Australian Business members and guests gathered in London at Grange St Paul's Hotel to network and celebrate Australia Day, which proved an excellent forum to explain Australia Unlimited, highlight Australia’s credentials on the world stage and promote the new iPad magazine. A launch video introduced the new iPad app and roaming promotional staff interacted with guests to demonstrate the app features and create a buzz around australiaunlimited.com, highlighting the stories of contemporary Australia to an audience of Australian diaspora and their UK business partners.
Entertainer Nick Hardcastle coordinated the night as MC, and guests were treated to performances from Australian performers The Divas from West End musical (Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Mig Ayesa (INXS) and a variety of Australian food wine and beer.
Chairman of ABUK, Phillip Aiken, addressed the crowd to highlight the importance of the ABUK and Australia Unlimited partnership and encourage participants to learn more about the Australia Unlimited program. Doctor Julian Savulescu, Professor of Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford, attended as guest of honour, helping to promote the iPad and drawing winners of the business card raffle.
As part of the promotion attendees were encouraged to engage with apps available via iPads on display, to download the app, visit the website, and follow Australia Unlimited on Twitter. As a result downloads and visits from the UK continue to grow.
